W hy should you finally start that wonderful garden you have been contemplating for years?

When outdoors, especially in a richly planted area be it great or small, one can so often experience a calming feeling of well-being. Having a garden is something which can bring joy to all of your senses:
Sight: Whether a single flower or a rolling meadow, plants provide an endless and ever changing visual feast. In any season you can enjoy a fascinating study in structure and color.

Scent: The range of perfume wafting from faintest clover to the intoxicating intensity of fresh lilac is one of life’s true pleasures. Add to that the earthy, rich, goodness of fresh herbs such as sage, rosemary, oregano, and of course basil.
Touch: Humans are very tactile creatures. The wave of your hand across a tall group of decorative grass or the incredibly soft touch of the Lambs Tongue can be very soothing.

Sound: Beyond the beauty of a well planted garden visually, for me there is equal pleasure in watching the huge community of insects especially all the bees softly buzzing around while collecting their nectar and pollen. Even the startling surprise from the sound of a hummingbird wizzing by you can bring a smile.
Taste: I personally feel that growing flowers and foliage is much like art whereas growing for food or more like a science. While some flowers will thrive and bloom and others may not, there always seems to be something else that fills the gap. However the pressure to produce food can be make it or break it. Permaculture gardening is a wonderful way to ease some of that pressure. Adding vegetable plants to the mix of your flower beds as well as the other way around, can have many benefits visually and deliciously.
In the process of developing this site, I have tried to impart as much about myself as possible to give you a sense of who I am, not all business. The making of a garden is truly an ongoing process. Therefore it is important to connect with someone who you feel a comfort level potentially for years to come. As I continue to embark on this exciting venture, it is my hope to learn and help others make the world a slightly better and even more beautiful place one planted bed at a time.
